November 9 : The Fall of The Berlin Wall

If China has their own great wall, Germans also had one. When i used google, i saw it has a new gig. Curious enough what was it all about, I clicked it. Now i realized it reminded me about the Berlin Wall. Today, November 9 of 2014, marks the silver anniversary of the Fall of Berlin Wall. There are a lot of interesting facts that we should learn about this great wall.
The Berlin Wall was not constructed on a long term basis, it was built overnight and historians are not sure who made the order if it was the East German leader, Walter Ulbricht or West German Leader, Nikita Khrushchev(who is part of the Soviet Union). It encircled the West Berlin. There were many consequences when the wall was already finished, families, friends and love ones from both sides were separated. Even their businesses and livestock went bankrupt.
There were many ways the people tried to cross to other side. They used tightropes, hung in ziplines and  disguised as guards. There was even a very creative idea where they used a hot air balloon. A train called the freedom train wrecked the a part of the wall. Many were inured, of course. For 28 years, many people suffered and died. When someone tries to get in, the guards are ordered to shoot them but must not kill. No part of the west side of the wall is not drawn or painted with graffiti.
It didn't just took one night of protest to fully demolish the wall. It took couple of months before they were able to freely cross the borders. Many people took part of the as souvenirs or sell them. Some of the parts were placed on some places as memorials.
