Illuminated Manuscripts



Illuminated manuscripts are books that have been written and illustrated by hand. The world “illuminati” which is a Latin word that means “to light up”. Some experts believe that the term was used because those who made illuminated manuscripts tried to light up the word of God.
Illustrated books have been made throughout the ages. The ancient Egyptians made them, and of course they are still made by the modern printing press. But illuminated manuscripts are usually thought of as an art of the Middle Ages. This was an age when only a few people could read. Leaders of the church believed that pictures in a book would provide religious education to those who could not understand written words. For the same reason, the beautiful churches and cathedrals of the age were also lavishly decorated.
Illuminated manuscripts were usually filled with pictures of religious events. Often the first letter of a new section was surrounded with decoration. These illustrations were called miniatures. They were called this partly because of their size but mainly because their main color was often minium, a red pigment that comes from lead. Many illuminated manuscripts were done in rich colors and gold.

Most illuminated manuscripts were created in Christian monasteries, but all the decorations did not have religious subjects. Pages were bordered with designs that made a frame for the text. Sometimes the designs were based on flowere and plants. Often the designs were geometric patterns-circles, triangles, squares and so forth. The pattern often had nothing at all to do with the thext but were created only to decorate the page. Early in the Middle Ages, the pages of manuscripts were dyed purple. The Magical Fairytales

Tall tales have been cherished by kids through the ages and in all aspects of the world. A kid who persue a tall tale is diverted into a radiant place where there is pretend where attractive ruler salvages delightful ladies, where appalling witches and titans are killed by brave saints, where a minor seed turns into a beanstalk that achieves high up in the sky. When a pixie story creatures, the peruser enters another and energizing world, a world where incomprehensible however exciting occasions occur. How grand to meander through a charmed royal residence, to ride on a quick dark steed or to go in a lovely mentor! That it is so alarming to face a monster, meet a naughty wolf or even have a duel against a flame breathing mythical serpent!

The Three Periods of English

Language is very important for people to understand each other. The universal language is the English Language. A lot of people used this all over the world. But how exactly how the English Language originated and became to be the right now. 
Old English (499-1100)
The English during this period is also called as the Anglo-Saxon. The Roman soldiers were the one who introduced Christianity to England. This is how they were able to get the Christian words like altar, candle, organ, school and master. The second influence was by the Danes who invaded next. They were able to know egg, sky, skin, law, get and give. However, they did not change its grammar but instead, the pronunciation and the vocabulary. 

Middle English (1100-1500)
English changed greatly when the French invaded England. There were useful words like city, court, fruit, flower, soldier and beauty. The names of the meat also changed. From cow or ox , they became beef. Pig and hog became pork. French became the language of the court. However, it rose again until 1362 it was the official language of the courts of the law and soon became the also the medium in schools. The first books became more focused on their grammar and even spelling. 

Modern English (1500-present)
There are now few changes in the language especially the larger number of words and even changes in the pronunciation. Nowadays, we used foreign words and added them to the vocabulary like kindergarten (German), garage (French), piano (Italian), ranch (Spanish), tank (Portuguese) and wigwam (American Indian). Also, there were a lot of men who were great in literature. To name a few, Shakespeare, Milton, Dryden and Shelley. Today, English is a language of simple grammar, wide vocabulary and a lot of beautiful arrangements of sentences.

About Essays



Essay writing is a requirement in order to have academic success. There are four main types of essay and each type of essay is named according to what the writer’s goal is. These four major types of essay are narrative essay, descriptive essay, expository essay, and persuasive essay. In a narrative essay, the writer or author narrates his or her story based on his or her experiences in real life. It has a plot, characters, setting, and etc. This type of essay usually uses the first person point of view. The descriptive essay is similar and alike to the narrative essay. In this type of essay, the writer describes any kinds of topic such as a person, a thing, or a place. The writer or author uses descriptive, colorful, or flowery words that are mostly sensory. The expository essay exposes ideas and analysis of a topic. It is mainly informative and it is usually written by the use of stating facts, statistics, comparing and contrasting, defining, giving examples, and telling the causes and effects. An expository essay should have a thesis statement. This is the most common essay which uses the five paragraph format that is composed with an introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Writers or authors do not use the first person point of view in writing an expository essay. In a persuasive essay, the writer or author also presents and states facts and gives expert reasoning in order to convince the readers to agree on the writer’s point. This type of essay is also known as the argumentative essay in which the writer or author must have a stand on a certain topic. Just like an expository essay, a persuasive essay should also have a thesis statement and may also use the five paragraph format.

Opening Lines



The opening of your speeches, books, movies are very important to be able to attract your listener's eyes and ears to you. These are the kinds of lines that will not just open the minds of the audience but also their closed hearts. Here are the most interesting opening lines personally picked for your entertainment and study purposes.  


This first opening line came from a TED talk:

Miracles of Jesus



As we celebrate Christmas, we also appreciate the birth of Jesus. Let's bring down interesting facts of the miracles that he made that were mentioned in the bible in a chronological order.


About 2, 000 years ago, Jesus was born to a woman named Mary who was living in Jerusalem. Mary never had sexual intercourse with anyone and it was a sin to do that before marriage. Although, God conceived His son into the womb of the Virgin Mary.

The first miracle that Jesus made by himself was when he changed the water to wine in a wedding he and her mother attended. Because there were no more wine, her mother asked her if he can change the water to wine. He was an obedient son and changed six stone jars of water to wine completely.

There were a lot of miracles that were mentioned involving fish catching. And one of them was when he ordered Simon Peter to put down the net on the deep water infront of all other witnesses. He worked hard all day and didn't had a good catch but this time, he was able to catch a lot of them in one net.

Healing is a very popular miracle of Jesus. However, he didn't just heal people but wake them up from the dead. A dead child was carried back to him and her mother was weeping asking him to bring him back. He just touched the bier and the dead man stood up like nothing happened.

Jesus and his disciples were traveling through a lake with a boat when a storm emerges. His disciples were too afraid that they awoke Jesus from his sleep. He asked them why they were afraid and just a motion of his two hands, the clouds separated breaking the storm and they could see the sun again.
